Common Ground Free Store Ministries is a partnership between Delaware churches, businesses, civic organizations and caring citizens. We believe God’s mercy doesn’t come with a price tag. Together we have established a warm and welcoming store run by volunteers where everything is available to everyone free of charge—from clothing, shoes diapers and linens, to small appliances, books and toys. There are no income requirements, no questions and no scrutiny—only the support of people who care. Everyone is on common ground.

According to the Federal Government and local service agencies, Delaware has nearly 2,200 residents living below the poverty line, many of whom are under age 18 or over age 65. More than 1,900 families are classified as low-income households, with 692 falling into the critical housing needs category. And in a single six-month period, 74 families were identified as homeless by the American Red Cross of Delaware County, Salvation Army, People in Need and other service agencies. The need is great. So is our desire to help—but it doesn’t stop with free clothing and household items.

Since some people’s needs go beyond our scope of services, Common Ground partners with other local service agencies to ensure that every need is met by serving as a referral resource in the community. By working together, we can provide our neighbors with new hope and a new start.
